In the battle between the vampires and the lycans (werewolves) Seline (smooth Beckinsale) is a Death Dealer, a vampire tirelessly bent on the destruction of the lycan clan – whose numbers seem to be diminishing. In her beginning narration she laments their possible elimination, as she lives for the lycan hunt. Quickly, she encounters their efforts at rebounding, and soon suspects a powerful ancient leader is still alive, directing a comeback centuries after his supposed death.
